Overview
The Manaslu Circuit is Nepal's great off-the-beaten-path teahouse trek. It follows the Budhi Gandaki gorge into Nubri, a Tibetan-influenced region of mani walls and monasteries, before crossing the Larkya La into the Annapurna region.
As a restricted area, Manaslu requires a special permit, a licensed guide and a minimum of two trekkers — all arranged by Ascend DMC Nepal.

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu
Airport transfer and permit processing.

Drive to Machha Khola
Long scenic drive via Arughat.

Trek up the Budhi Gandaki
Via Jagat, Deng and Namrung into the restricted area.

Lho and Samagaon
Views of Manaslu; acclimatisation hike.

Samdo and Dharamsala
Approach the pass through yak pastures.

Cross Larkya La to Bimthang
Long day over the pass with glacier views.

Descend to Dharapani, drive to Kathmandu
Trek out and drive back.

FAQs
Can I trek Manaslu solo?
No. Restricted Area Permits require a minimum of two trekkers and a licensed guide. If you are travelling alone, you can join one of our fixed departures.
Do I need a guide for this trek?
Yes. Since April 2023, foreign trekkers in Nepal's national parks and conservation areas must trek with a government-licensed guide arranged through a registered agency such as Ascend DMC Nepal.
What travel insurance do I need?
Your policy must cover trekking up to the maximum altitude of the route and include emergency helicopter evacuation. We check your insurance before departure.
Can this trek be done privately?
Yes. Every trek is available as a private departure on any date, or you can join one of our fixed group departures.
